James R. "Romeo" Rhom, age 70, of Marion, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 27, 2017 at CarePartners Rehabilitation Center in Asheville. A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born March 03, 1947, he was the son of the late Garthur and Loney Arrowood Rhom.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, James enjoyed farming and chopping wood for those in need. He loved to deer hunt and enjoyed the company of his canine partner, “Killer”, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He attended Bethel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joan F. Rhom; one daughter, Geneva Rhom (Forrest Kincaid); one son, Timmy Rhom; two grandchildren, Dylan Ray and Sister Ray; two sisters, Margaret Mace and Elizabeth Mace; and two brothers, Ricky Rhom (Margaret) and Dennis Rhom (Sandy). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and last but not least, his canine partner, “Killer”.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 31, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 205 Bethel Church Road, Marion. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Revs. Jimmy Upton and Doug Carpenter officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the United States Army, will follow in the church cemetery.
