James A. Morgan age 80 of Marion went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 29, 2023. He was born on September 20th, 1942 to the late Arthur Cleveland Morgan and Florence Tony Morgan. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Ralph Morgan.
Also preceding him in death is his wife and love of his life, Shirley Blevins Morgan. The two were married on March 23rd 1963. They were married for 37 years until God called her home in 2000.
He gave his heart to the Lord in 1976 and has been a soldier fighting to go home for many years. When he got sick, he would tell people “I’m a winner either way” and boy what a winner he is! He was a deacon for 30 years at Trinity Hill FWB before transferring his membership to Mt Calvary FWB where he also served as a deacon until present. Jim was a classic car lover and had many different ones over the years. He loved going to car shows and enjoyed every one that attended. He was a truck driver for 42 years. Many of those years he was self-employed operating his own truck. He loved the open road and was able to drive through just about every state. He was also a jokester and was always playing jokes on people. He loved to get one over on someone. He could always come back at you with something funny.
Left to cherish his memory is his son Scott Morgan (Robbin) and daughter Tiffany Gibbs (Curtis). A very special companion Wanda Hunter; Three grandchildren Megan Walker (Tyler), Diamond Hill (Gladden), and Jacob Morgan. Five great grandchildren Jace, Alex, and Cole Walker, Luke and Graham Hill; Sisters, Mary Reed (Bob), Vera Washburn (Bob), and Alma Poteat. Jim has met some really special people on this journey called life and will always be grateful to call them friends and family.
A funeral service for Mr. Morgan will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt Calvary FWB church with Pastor Rick Wood officiating. Receiving of friends will be on Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. Burial will follow the service at Trinity Hill FWB where he will lay beside his wife Shirley.
