James “Jimmy” Allen Stevens, 63, of Marion, passed away at UNC Health Blue Ridge in Morganton on Monday, March 18, 2024.
Jimmy was born in McDowell County on August 27, 1960 to William Randolph Stevens, Sr. and Ruby Frances Melton Stevens who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by brothers, Sam Freeman, Calvin, Arnold, Dean, Bill, and Norman Stevens.
Jimmy was known a very outgoing person who enjoyed meeting his friends for breakfast at Hardees. He was a man who loved spending time in the outdoors. He enjoyed going camping, fishing and watching sports. He loved his family, especially his grandkids. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Toni Lambert Stevens; his children, Melissa Lowery (Terry), Amy Davis (Lucus), Jesse McKinney (Rachel), Emileigh McKinney Strode (Matthew), Roger Brown (April), Greg Brown (Pam), Tisa Parker (Jerry); his four sisters, Shirley Laws, Verdie Propst, Cindy Johnson (Tommy) and Rita Barnett; grandchildren, Hannah Swepson, Jayme Stevens, Dakota Lowery, Kaine Wallace, Andrew Davis, Addyson Davis, Brian Ashton Burnette, Greenleigh Stroude, Kyle Brown, Katlin Lewis, Kendra Brown, Shane Parker, Sean Parker Joseph Parker, John Brown, Jordan Brown, and Wynter Brown; special sister's in law, Judy Stevens and Sandy Stevens; a number of special nieces and nephew, and his canine companion, Byrd.
A memorial service for Jimmy will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the State Street Church of God with the Rev. Wade Foster Officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 at the church prior to the service. A private interment will follow at a later date.
