James "Jim" Segars

Mr. James "Jim" Segars, age 72, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away at his residence on Thursday, October 31, 2019.  Born in Chesterfield, South Carolina on February 09, 1947, he was the son James H. Segars of Marion, North Carolina and the late Louise Price Segars.  

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vicki Segars, who passed away on November 03, 2007.

For many years, Jim was owner/operator of Service Pharmacy on Main Street in Marion where he proudly served the citizens of McDowell County as a Pharmacist.  A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many, Jim was outstanding and caring not only in his personal life, but his professional life as well.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marion.

Left to cherish his precious memories, in addition to his father, his loving wife of 10 years, Debbie Tolbert Segars of the home; four children, Scott Segars of Atlanta, Georgia, Erin Wright (Tracy) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Kelly Coates (Tim) of Damascus, Maryland and Brad Tolbert (Rachael) of Plymouth, Massachusetts; and four loving grandchildren, Xavier Wright (8), Steele Wright (6), Dillon Coates (12) and Catelyn Coates (9).  He is also survived by one brother, Ron Segars; and two sisters, Beth Robinson and Susan Segars.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Tuesday, November 05, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Marion with Pastor Warren N. Owens officiating.  A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall.
