James "Jim" Browning

James “Jim” Browning, age 71, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, October 06, 2019 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville. His loving family was by his side. The son of the late Charles and Mida Sandidge Browning, he was born in McDowell County on December 30, 1947.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sandra Dobson Browning, who passed away on January 25, 2015; one grandson, Sebastain Sackett; and one sister, Peggy Biebel.

A wonderful and loving father, grandfather and friend, Jim enjoyed taking his boat and bass fishing on Lake James.  A fan of NASCAR, prior to her passing, he loved to sit on the porch with his wife, but most of all, Jim loved his grandkids.  He attended Faith Baptist Church. 

Left to cherish his memories are his seven children, Jeff Dobson (Michele), Robin Browning, Jamie McKinney (Mark), Amy Jimison (David), Wendi Unick, Gini Browning and Allie Watson (Ethan); one sister, Joe Robinson; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a special nephew, Mike Dobson; along with numerous nieces and nephews; a special son-in-law, Joe Unick; and close friend, Mutt Carroway.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Wilson-Ballew Memorial Cemetery in Nebo with Rev. Dean Owenby officiating.
