James Paul Harris

James Paul “J.P.” Harris, age 70, of Marion, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016.  J.P. was a native of Buncombe County, born on October 10, 1945, and was the son of the late James Grady and Lena Mae Harris. J.P. is also preceded in death by his wife Eleanora Harris, and a son Lee Harris.

J.P. was a hard worker and was employed with South McDowell Quarry as a welder. He also enjoyed being outdoors trout fishing and ginseng hunting.

Mr. Harris is survived by six children, son’s James Harris, Scott Harris, Randy Harris, and Billy Harris; two daughters, Tammy Harris, and Beth Harris Sides; three sisters, Betty Rollins, Hattie Lawson, Polly Gentry, and a brother, Robert Harris.  J.P. is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mr. Harris will be on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church, 6988 Harmony Grove Road, Nebo, N.C. 28761.
