Mr. James Clarence Gallion, age 82, of Nebo, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 28, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Born in Letcher County, Kentucky on January 30, 1937, he was the son of the late Eugene A. and Verna Mae Gallion.
He was preceded in death by his son James Dean Gallion and granddaughter Kylie Horner.
James was a member of the Bethel Free Will Baptist Church were he served faithful as a deacon. He was a proud United States Army Veteran, and was known as an avid Duke University fan. James also enjoyed fishing, but mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was formerly employed at Old Fort Finishing, and later retired from Anvil Knitwear.
He is survived by his wife of sixty five years, Janell Randolph Gallion; two sons, Terry Gallion (Libby), Jeff Gallion (Kim); two daughters Ellen Horner, Susan Grindstaff (Mark); three brothers, Roger Gallion (Katherine), Wayne Gallion (Margaret), Dennis Gallion (Susan); one sister, Jean Castle (Neil); nine grandchildren, Alisha Lasater, Jamie Clark, Khristal Blankenship, Becky Wise, Daniel Grindstaff, Jacob Gallion, Joshua Gallion, Scarlett Gallion and Ryan Horner; fourteen great grandchildren also survive.
A funeral service will be held at on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at the Bethel Free Will Baptist Church with Revs. Ray Stockton and Dean Owenby officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service in the church. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
