Jack Allen Poteat

October 3, 1964 — August 11, 2018

 

Jack Allen Poteat, age 53, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville, following a lengthy illness.  Born in Washington, DC on October 3, 1964, he was the son of Florence Ledford Poteat of Morganton and the late Billy Jack Poteat. 

 

An avid coin collector, Jack loved his family and was truly loved by them. He enjoyed watching sports and was very knowledgeable with various teams and players.  Jack who was a humble man with a gentle spirit, never complained about his lengthy illness.  His love for people and the Lord was evident. 

 

He is survived by, in addition to his mother, loving wife, Lois Poteat of the home; three sons, Patrick Poteat of Morganton, Zachary Poteat and Benjamin Poteat, both of Columbus, Georgia; two brothers, Billy Dean Poteat (Genni) of Morganton and Chris Poteat (Jean) of Mills River.  He is also survived by four grandchildren; and two aunts, Jean Rumfelt and Dorothy Ledford and one nephew, Eric Poteat.

 

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Dr. Dennis Love officiating.   The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
