Jack Edward McHone, 81, of Marion, North Carolina, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at his residence.
He was born on October 17, 1939 in Mitchell County to the late Walter Lee McHone and
Dollie Byrd McHone.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Jack was a member of Trinity Hill Free Will
Baptist Church. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Jack served
as a volunteer fireman for Marion Fire Department in the 1970’s. He worked for over 20
years for the McDowell County Schools Bus Garage. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, and
gardening. He also had a special place in his heart for his dog, Sis.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Kirby McHone; four children, Theresa Queen, Edward
“Bo” McHone (Linda), Kimberly Austin (Tony), and Steven McHone (Tiffany); eight
grandchildren, Chad McHone (Samantha), Cassie Kelley (Ryan), Brittany Stanley
(Garrett), Tyler Elliott (Harley), Lucas McHone, LJ McHone, Avery McHone, and
Mykayla Stout; four great grandchildren, Elias Kelley, Emery Kelley, Addison McHone,
and Keaton Stanley.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 01, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the
Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. Military honors will be
provided by the United States Marine Corps. The family will receive friends from 1:00
until 2:00 p.m. A private interment will take place at Western Carolina State Veterans
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
