Iva Jean Tomberlin Riddle, age 89, of Marion, NC, was summoned from her earthly duties January 26, 2024, to bask in the joys of living for eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Today she is reuniting with loved ones gone before her. No longer will she suffer the agony of dementia, but will be whole in her mind with her new heavenly body. She was cared for by her loving children and the caring staff of Carolina of the Foothills Hospice team for which we are very grateful.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Willie Tomberlin, her husband, Glen Riddle, her brothers Boyd and Thor Tomberlin, her sister Rosalie Shook, her grandsons, Howard and Adam Riddle, her great granddaughter, baby Kay Diaz, and her son-in-law Douglas Smith.
She is survived by her son, David Riddle and his wife, Shirley, of Townsend, GA, her daughter, Connie Riddle Smith, of Marion, NC, her son, James Riddle and his wife, Tammy, of Bloomingdale, GA, and her son, Mark Riddle of Marion, NC.
She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Thomas, of Bamberg, SC, her sister , Norma Jean Cheek and husband, Herbert, of Greenville, TN, and Deborah Schmid and her husband, Jim, of Marshall, NC.
She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with her son, Rev. David Riddle, officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. Her body will be laid to rest with her husband of 71 1/2 years at the Veteran's Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
