Irma Burnette

Irma Winters Burnette of Marion, NC (formally of Kingston, TN) passed away December 18, 2019 at Autumn Care of Marion, NC. She was born October 24, 1927, becoming the first child of Luther and Glera Allen Winters. Irma was married on December 2, 1950 to Ted R. Burnette of Spruce Pine, NC.

In addition to her parents she is proceeded in death by her husband, a daughter, Patricia Mealer, one grandson, A.J. Basler, and six brothers, Bobby, Royce, Earl, Guy, Paul, and Frank Winters.

Irma loved her family, playing golf with her husband and working in her search- a- word books. She will be missed by her family and friends that knew and loved her.

Irma is survived by her son, James R. Burnette (Connie) of Longs, SC, her daughters Wanda G. Brown (partner Bill) of Jonesborough, TN and Virginia B. Thomas (Jerry) of Spruce Pine. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Renee Burroughs, Joshua Burnette, Paul Basler, and Steven Thomas, six great grandchildren, Meredith, Carter, Max, Jordan, Ryleigh and Catlin. Also, she is survived by her only sister Barbara Young (J.D.) and her youngest brother David Winters (Donna) both of Burnsville, NC and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses, CNAs and staff at Autumn Care for their kindness and wonderful care of Mama. She loved you all.

A graveside service will be held at later date.
