Iris Ann Duncan Riddle, 86, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022 at her residence.
A native of Mitchell County, she was born January 26, 1936 to the late Andrew Duncan and Inez McKinney Duncan. She is also preceded in death by a grandson, Torsten Riddle.
Iris was a teacher’s assistant for over 30 years at Nebo Elementary School. She absolutely adored the children that she taught over the years. She was a longtime member of Nebo First Baptist Church. She loved her family immensely, and, next to Jesus, they were most important in her life. Iris truly loved life, and she will be remembered as a wonderful Christian example to all those she came in contact with throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dewitt Riddle, Jr.; three children, Marvin Riddle (Cindy), Andrea Phillips (Ron Jr.), Steve Riddle (Myra); five grandchildren, Michael Riddle (Ashley), Shellie Lamb (Cody), Susie Riddle, Jennifer Riddle (Stephen), and Randy Riddle (Nicole); eight great grandchildren, Parker Riddle, Christopher Riddle, Mattie Lamb, Emmalee Riddle, Nicholas Riddle, Allison Riddle, Taelor Riddle, and Aiden Riddle; and one brother, Andrew Duncan, Jr. (Linda).
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Nebo First Baptist Church with Revs. Marvin Riddle, Doug Worley, and Steve Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Spruce Pine. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon prior to the service.
