Inez Nanney

Inez Frye Nanney, age 81, of Nebo, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at her residence with her loving family by her side. A native of Mitchell County, Inez was born on March 17, 1937 to the late Lorenzo and Arizona Forbes Frye.

Inez enjoyed writing songs and composing the music for them. She also wrote poems, many of which were published. Inez also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with her children and grandchildren. She was a loving mother and wonderful grandmother.

Inez is preceded in death by her husband, Sgt. First Class Charles Richard Nanney, Sr., a daughter, Debra Foxx, a son Gary Nanney and his wife Roberta (Sparkie) Nanney and four brothers and two sisters.

Left behind to cherish her memories are her children, Charles (Rick) Nanney (Kathy), Sherry Lee (Wilburn), Mark Nanney and (Donna) and Melissa Smith (David), and her son-in-law, Arcemus Foxx. Also surviving Inez are thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service to celebrate Inez’s life will take place on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service with Pastors David Edwards and Matt Wilson officiating and graveside service by Mike Boone. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place following the service at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.
