Hubert Harry Burleson

Hubert Harry Burleson, age 82, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville.  Born in McDowell County on January 14, 1935, he was the son of the late Herbert and Viola Thomas Burleson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin infant brother; one brother, Donald Burleson; and four sisters, Margie, Elsie, Gladys and Jenny.

Hubert, a veteran and retiree from the United States Air Force, began his second career at Baxter’s Healthcare where he ultimately retired following 20 years.  A devoted family man, Hubert was an avid golfer and enjoyed painting.  He was a member of North Cove Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty nine years, Pansy Medford Burleson; one daughter, Kathy McMullen; two sons, Thomas H. Burleson (Yvonne) and Charles Lee Burleson; three grandchildren, Travis Mace, Brian Mace (Stephanie) and Josh Burleson; and three great grandchildren, Alex Mace, Preston Buff and Gavin Mace.

A celebration of Mr. Burleson’s life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Richard Merritt officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United State Air Force. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
