Hoyt James Elliott, Sr.

Hoyt James Elliott, Sr., age 84, of the Buck Creek Community, passed away on Wednesday March 01, 2017 at his residence with his loving family at his side.  A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born November 05, 1932, he was the son of the late Ernest and Cora Gouge Elliott.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Hoyt was a gunner during the Korean War.

Hoyt is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Maye Elliott; six children, Nancy Evans (Larry), Rena Gouge (Gene), Rita Sapp (Brigham), James Elliott (Becky), Ray Elliott and Dale Elliott (Crystal); one sister, Ernestine Moody; ten grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. 

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 03, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Revs. Gene Gouge and Jerry McClain officiating.  Interment, with military honors provided by the United States Army, will follow at Burnette Cemetery in Little Switzerland.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
