Howard Edward Morris, Sr.

Mr. Howard Edward Morris, Sr., age 89, of Old Fort went to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 30, 2022 while surrounded by his family and closest friends. A native of McDowell County, Howard was born on September 10, 1932 to the late Erbie and Elda Johnson Morris.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers; Earl, Bill, Raymond and Jerry; one sister, Maggie; two daughters, Betty and Bobbie; one son, Eddie and his beloved wife of over forty-five years, Mildred Morris.

Howard always had a big garden and enjoyed cooking and canning. He was known to fix the best bear meat. Howard loved his family and he did not say goodbye, he just said “I’ll be waiting in Heaven for you”.

Left to cherish his memory are his two children; Brenda Justice (Reverend Donald) and Mike Morris (Becky); eight grandchildren, Donald “Bubba” Justice, Dixie Cope (Reverend JB), Daniel Justice (Krystal), Robert Morris (Lauren), Angie Henderson (David), Crystal, Tasha and Tiffany. Also surviving Howard are great-grandchildren, Austin (Miranda), Kelly (Michael), Sarah, Caroline and Zack; and three great-great grandchildren, Kaydance, Carson and Jaxon; six siblings, Loraine Murray, Margaret Morris, Dallas Morris, Ruby Davis, Stan Morris (Peggy) and Martha Morris (Bobby); two very special friends, Perk and Helen White; two step-sons, James and William Wright and one step grandson, Allen Wright.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Carolina Foothills and nurse Lisa for their support. A special thanks to Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church and Solid Rock Free Will Baptist Church for their friendship, love and support.

A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Beam Funeral Service at 4:00 p.m. with Reverends Donald Justice, Sr., JB Cope, Vincent White and Bill Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Bethlehem Church Cemetery.
