Howard Bounds

Howard Bounds, age 88, of the Pleasant Gardens Community, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Monday, November 13, 2017 at the McDowell Hospital.  A native of Hoke County, North Carolina, born December 04, 1928, he was the son of the late Junior and Mattie Johnson Bounds. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson and several siblings. 

A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Howard was a member of Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church where he served on many committees.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening and reading.  He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. 

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 55 ½ years, Emily Edwards Bounds; two children; one sister, Marie Metzler; and three grandchildren.  He is also survived by his “adoptive sister”, Patti Warren.

A celebration of Howard’s life will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church with Pastor Coy Jeans and Pastor Josh Hayes officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
