Hilda Elizabeth Allison Knupp, age 85, of Old Fort, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Mission Hospital-McDowell. A native of McDowell County, Hilda was born on February 13, 1933 to the late Brownlow and Gladys Burgin Allison.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Lester Knupp; one daughter, Penny Brooks and one granddaughter, Stephanie Lynn Brooks.
Hilda was a very active member of Mt. Hebron Wesleyan Church, which she assisted in fund raising for the building fund. She was a long-time volunteer at McDowell Hospital, member of McDowell Extension Club and Friends of the Library in Old Fort. She loved to quilt and crochet and work in her garden. She also was known to family and friends as being a wonderful cook.
Left to cherish her memories are one son, Kim Knupp; one son-in-law, Jimmy Brooks; one brother, Raymond Allison and two sisters, Lottie Washburn and Candie McPherson (Joe). Also surviving Hilda are three grandchildren, Jennifer Kinninger (Adam), Amy Deyton (Darren) and David Lawing and four great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Ethan, Halen and Nova.
A funeral service for Hilda will take place on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Hebron Wesleyan Church with Reverend Todd Hinson and Mrs. Jennifer Kinninger officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Cherry Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
