Herman Virgil Elliott, age 92, of Nebo, went to have a little talk with Jesus on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
A native of McDowell County, he was born on June 15, 1932 to the late Calvin and Rhoda Elliott.
Herman was a longtime, faithful member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. Over the years, he served the Lord and his church by being a deacon and a Sunday School teacher for the junior boys. He retired from East Marion Manufacturing after many years of dedicated service. Herman was known for his wonderful sense of humor. It brought him great joy to tell a good joke, and he had a laugh that will fondly be remembered by all who knew him. Most recently, Herman had been a resident of The Greens Nursing Home where he had received excellent care. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Finley Elliott; six brothers; and one sister.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Trish Mingle (Barry) and Debbie Elliott; four grandsons, Andrew Price (Chelsea), Caleb Mingle (Paige), Aaron Vallini (D’Jan), and Anthony Vallini (Jordan); ten great-grandchildren, Tristan Price (Bella), Jackson Price, Sullivan Price, Elliott Price, Cody Price, Ari Vallini, Leo Vallini, Eli Vallini, Hudson Vallini, and Rosie Vallini; and a special friend, Lloyd Silvers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Brian Bird officiating.
Interment will be on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at McDowell Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Gideons International or the First Free Will Baptist Building Fund.
