Hazel Vess McPeters, 92, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at the Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center.
She was born in McDowell County to the late Otis Theodore Vess and Flossie Odell Elliott Vess. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Bruce McPeters; daughter, Vicky Lynn McPeters; and three siblings, Frank Vess, Roy Vess, and Lothella Vess.
Hazel enjoyed spoiling everyone, especially with her great cooking. She loved gardening and cutting up with others. Golfing and dancing were also things she enjoyed earlier in her life. Hazel will be remembered for being happy, loving, and giving.
She is survived by four siblings, Shirley Murphy, Wilma Jean Davis (Lloyd), Theodore Vess (Denise), and Janice Creasman; sisters-in-law, Betty Elliott and Johncie Davis; a number of nieces and nephews; and her special caregivers who became family at the Black Mountain Center.
