Hazel Bartlett Banks, age 87, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at her residence in Marion, North Carolina with her loved ones at her side. Born in Buncombe County, North Carolina on October 22, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Bulo and Thelma Thompson Bartlett.
Following 38 years serving as a nurse’s assistant, Hazel absolutely loved helping others. She enjoyed growing flowers, traveling to different flea markets, spending quality time with family and friends. Cooking a big meal for her family meant the world to Hazel.
Left to cherish her precious memories are daughter, Mary Banks (Steve), whom she made her home with; two sons, Rick Banks (Karen) of Asheville and Gene Banks of Hendersonville; five grandchildren that she adored, John Corman (Renee), Crissy Sowers (Jonathan), Tiffany Robinson (Matt), Ronnie Lee and Ricky Banks; many great grandchildren that she enjoyed spending time with, Hailey, Anna, Melody, Isaiah, Elisha, Destiny, Kaitlyn, Jordan, Darren, Maliah, Mason, Myles, Mahika, Chloe, Bridgette and Avacyn; and two special Angels in Heaven, Kyle Lee and Billy Wright. She is also survived by one brother, Wayne Bartlett (Paula) of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory in Marion. A graveside service will follow at Piney Grove Cemetery in Old Fort with Mr. Matthew Robinson officiating.
The family of Hazel wishes to extend a special thank you to all the wonderful staff of CarePartners Hospice & Palliative Care-McDowell for the amazing care and the love given to her and her family during Hazel’s final journey.
