Hayden Hobson

Hayden Hobson, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at his residence in Elk Park, North Carolina.  The son of the late Homer and Beulah McClain Hobson, Hayden was born in Avery County, North Carolina on July 10, 1947.

A wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother, Hayden was known to collect anything from a firearm to watches or gold and enjoyed trading or bargaining with someone.  He was a founding member of the former Elk Park Rescue Squad and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Newland.

Mr. Hobson is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Joy Trivett Hobson; one son, Eddie Hobson and his wife, Windy; one step daughter, Jessica Hurlbert and her husband, Daniel; one brother, Lloyd Hobson and his wife, Winnie; one grandson, Cole Hobson; and seven step grandchildren, Toby, Jillian, Gideon, Cyrus, Seth, Ana and Kaleb.

A celebration of Hayden’s life will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 933 Millers Gap Highway, Newland, with Pastor Joe Ingham officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
