Harvey Washington

Harvey Washington, age 70, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 02, 2021 with his loving family at his side.  Born in Rutherford County, North Carolina on December 28, 1950, he was the son of the late Tom and Lillian Neighbors Washington.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Erica Miller; beloved granddaughter, Brielle Davis; one sister, Marie Washington; and five brothers, Sylvester Washington, Matthew Washington, Alvin Washington, Roy Thombs and Gene Washington.

An avid fisherman, Harvey, following 23 years, retired from Carolina Pallet Recycling in Marion as a supervisor. He was a fan of Dallas Cowboys and North Carolina Tar Heels.   Harvey, prior to this health declining, had attended Community Missionary Baptist Church in Marion and Refuge Baptist Church in Marion.

Left to cherish is memories are his wife, Kathy Washington; thirteen children, Jenna Sarver (David), LaVeda Brown Ferguson (Tia), Tara Washington, Dianne Black (George), Michelle Washington, Chastity Washington, Harvey Washington, Jr. (Cheryl), Christy Edgerton (Robert), Shannon Benton (Buster), Tridessa Forney, Brittney Hutchinson, Angie Burgess (Tim) and Maleigha Davis; thirty-five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  Harvey is also survived by two brothers, Calvin Washington and Thomas Washington; one sister, Savannah Neighbors; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Harvey’s life will be held on Sunday, June 06, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Ronnie Gentry officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
