Harold Vann Ward

Harold Vann Ward, 56, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte.

He was born in McDowell County on January 7, 1967 to Glenda Freeman Ward and the late Harold Ward.

Harold Vann was a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church where he often sang in the choir. He loved his church family so much and enjoyed worshipping with them. He was a hard worker and had worked in the furniture industry before working at Toolcraft most recently. He enjoyed shooting pool, fishing, and making people laugh. It was important to him to make sure everyone he came in contact with was having a good day. Despite his health struggles, Harold Vann never failed to share about Jesus and offer heartfelt prayers.

In addition to his mother, Glenda Ward, he is survived by his wife of 28 years, Maria Powell Ward; sister, Janie Mayfield (Keith); a special niece, Jessica Mayfield Stroupe (Tim) and their children, Gabrielle Yelton and Justin Yelton; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service with Pastors Larry Anderson and Ray Stockton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
