Harold "Redman" Shepherd

On the evening of Saturday, January 11, 2020, while surrounded by his loved ones, Harold “Redman” Shepherd, age 72, of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, passed away at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville.  The son of the late Charles B. and Agnes Wheeler Shepherd, he was born in Asheville, North Carolina on February 09, 1947.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Buckner; two brothers, Clyde Shepherd and Doug Shepherd; and one sister, Carolyn Harris. 

A wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Harold enjoyed hunting and had an interest in both knives and firearms.  For many years he drove a truck for Gilkey Lumber and Parton Lumber Companies. 

Left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Linda Pack Shepherd; three children, Sheila Bradley (Jimmy); Harold Shepherd, Jr. (Sarah) and Robin Raines; one sister, Mary Louise Styles (Johnny); and two brothers, Lewis Shepherd and Steve Shepherd.  Harold is also survived by his fourteen grandchildren, Ashley, Boo, J.W., Felecia, Justin, Alex, Sara, Charlie, Cheyenne, Steven, Haleigh, Kimberly, Elijah and Caden; five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. 

The family will receive friends on the evening of Tuesday, January 14, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory, 2170 Rutherford Road in Marion. 

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Piney Knob Baptist Church in Rutherfordton with Pastor Paul Nelon officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
