Guy Edward Washburn

Guy Edward Washburn, age 87, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday July 4, 2017 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Born on November 21, 1929, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lillie Mae Suttles Washburn.

Mr. Washburn was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who served in the Korean war where he operated a tank. During his tour of duty he was wounded and received a purple heart. He enjoyed tending to his garden at his home, and was a friend to all. He loved his family more than anything else, and will be missed greatly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, a daughter, Teresa Lynn Deyton & husband Darryl and his granddaughter, Leann Arrowood.

He leaves behind a wife of 63 years, Helen Hensley Washburn; four children, Steve Arrowood (Marla), Roger Washburn (Donna), Charles Washburn (Cheryl), & Lisa McCoy; ten grandchildren; Ryan Arrowood (Teresa), Derek Washburn (Kim), Dustin Washburn, Bradley Washburn (Hannah), Brian Laughter, Natalie Pittman (Justin), Brandy Keener (Chris), Megan Leopold (Seth), Rachel Boone (Andrew), Kayla Renfro (Logan) & 13 great-grandchildren; a sister in law, Betty Washburn; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service to celebrate Guy’s life will be held at Friday, July 7, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Turkey Cove Baptist Church with Reverends David Edwards, Coy Wheeler and John Burnette officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment with military honors will follow at Snow Hill Cemetery.
