Guy W. Davis

Guy W. Davis, age 84, of the Pleasant Gardens Community, while surrounded by his loving family and friends, passed away on Saturday, May 06, 2017 at his residence.  A native of McDowell County, born May 30, 1932, he was the son the late Pansy L. Davis.

Guy was a loving husband, a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He loved his church family at New Horizon Baptist Fellowship.  He was a charter member and served as a deacon.  Guy was an avid NASCAR fan and attended many races with his friends and family.

He was a graduate of Marion High School where he played baseball.  He also played baseball for the American Legion and played while serving in the United States Army.  Guy enjoyed bowling and was a competitive bowler.  Guy was self-employed as owner of Davis Tool Company.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 45 years, Rebecca Smith Davis; one daughter, Karen Suttles; one son, Wallace Davis; his five precious grandchildren, Alexa Kincaid, Kennedy Kincaid, Graham Suttles, Grayson Davis and Carter Davis; and one great granddaughter, Nyomi Mendenhall.  Guy is also survived by special cousins who were like his brothers and sisters, Larry Davis, Ricky Davis, Mary Lynn Young and Cindy Davis.

A celebration to honor Guy’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at New Horizon Baptist Fellowship with Rev. Phil Murdock, Rev. Terry Roach, Rev. Danny Hampton officiating.  Interment, with military honors provided by the United States Army, will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
