Gloria “Gayle” McGinnis Carver, 75, passed away Tuesday morning, October 18, 2022 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
Gayle was born July 27, 1947 in McDowell County to the late James Young McGinnis and Elizabeth Chester McGinnis.
She was known as a very giving person who loved to help others. Gayle loved gardening but mostly loved spending time with her family. She also loved her cats very much. She retired from Wal-Mart after 20 years of service. Gayle was a very loving mother, grandmother and sister. She will be greatly missed.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Carver; her sister, Patsey Padgett and a brother, Greg McGinnis.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, a son David Carver; a daughter, Tammy Wheeler (Bo Trantham); a brother Jimmy McGinnis; four grandchildren, Hali Wheeler, Heather Wheeler, Kara Wheeler and Zachary Trantham; three great grandchildren, Melody, Paiglyn and Greyson and a number of nieces and nephews who she loved greatly.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022 in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service at 3:00 pm with the Reverend Gary Lavender officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cherry Springs Memorial Park in Old Fort.
