Glenna Pope

January 19, 1953 — February 2, 2019

 

Glenna Stewart Pope, age 66, of Candler, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord shortly after 8:00 p.m. on the night of Saturday, February 02, 2019 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville.  Her loved ones were by her side.  A native of Buncombe County, North Carolina, born January 19, 1953, she was the daughter of Janet Reeves Stewart of Candler and the late Charles Glenn Stewart. 

 

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Wade Pope; one brother, Charles “Jackie” Stewart; maternal grandparents, Laura West Reeves and Atley Larkin Reeves; and paternal grandparents, Jack Wate Stewart and Althea Ridley Stewart. 

 

Glenna, who cherished animals, especially horses and cats, attended New Morgan Hill Baptist Church.  She loved spending quality time with her family, especially her “boys” and her granddaughter, Kaylee.

 

Glenna is survived by, in addition to her mother, two sons, Timothy Scott Gaddy, Jr. of Charlotte and Charles Matthew Gaddy of Old Fort; one precious granddaughter, Kaylee Gaddy; and one sister, Loretta Stewart Higdon and husband, Charlie, of Candler; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

A celebration of Glenna’s life will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Edgewood Baptist Church, 61 Moody Avenue in Candler with Pastor Don Hood and Mr. Jim Rhinehart officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.

 

Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.  Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Glenna’s memory are asked to consider a charity of one’s choice.

 

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at Mission Hospital's Coli Critical Care ICU-St. Joseph Campus and the staff of John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville for the loving and compassionate care they provided Glenna and her family during this time.
