In Loving Memory of Glen A. Kauk
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Glen A. Kauk, a remarkable man who touched the lives of many. Glen, a Korean War Veteran and a young-at-heart 89-year-old born on May 23, 1934, embarked on his journey to be with the Lord on June 27, 2023. While we mourn his loss, we celebrate the incredible life he lived.
Glen leaves behind his adoring wife, Sandy Kauk, his "Princess" of nearly 45 years. Their love story was one for the ages, and together they formed a blended family that encompasses a multitude of children, a plethora of grandchildren, more than a dozen great-grandchildren, and their cherished companion, Sugar, the dog. Glen is also survived by his brother, Larry Kauk, and his sister, Sharon Watkins.
Glen had an undeniable zest for life and a multitude of interests that brought him joy. He found solace and camaraderie in singing and strumming his guitar to folk songs, gospel hymns, and love songs for Sandy. His brother Larry fondly remembers when as youngsters in Denver, Colorado, they mowed summer lawns and shoveled winter snow to pay for the model airplanes they piloted. Glen went on to place 4th in the 1957 Los Alamitos Nationals Model Airplane contest. He was meticulous in the care of all things he loved, especially his bride Sandy, but also as a car enthusiast, beginning with the ‘37 Plymouth he restored to perfection as a young man.
A true lover of the great outdoors, Glen was an avid fisherman and water skier. He took great pleasure in sharing the beauty of nature with others, including the view through the expansive windows of the North Carolina home which brought him and Sandy so much pride and joy in their retirement. When it came to snacks, Glen had a particular fondness for strong flavors like black licorice and pickled herring. And let's not forget his incredible sense of humor, which brightened countless lives. Glen had a gift for finding laughter in every situation, even while sleuthing around to locate the infamous Julian, California Porch Deer. His infectious chuckle will forever echo in our hearts.
Glen's most cherished accomplishment was undoubtedly his marriage to his best friend, Sandy. Their love for one another was a shining example to all, the kind of deep connection that others only dream of. Together, they built a foundation of love, respect, and playfulness that served as a beacon for those around them. Their bond was unbreakable, a testament to the power of a true partnership.
Glen held immense gratitude for his Katy Creek neighbors in Nebo, NC. Their friendship and kindness brought him immeasurable joy, and he cherished the sense of community they shared.
As we say goodbye to Glen, we carry his memory with us, forever grateful for the love he shared, the laughter he brought, and the indelible mark he left on our lives. May he find eternal peace in the embrace of the Lord, knowing he made a lasting impact on this world.
Rest in peace, dear Glen. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
