Gladys Crosby Washburn

Gladys Crosby Washburn Age 91, of Marion, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022 at her residence. 

Gladys was born in McDowell County, on March 19, 1931 to the late Jim Fate Crosby and the late Myrtle Foster Crosby.

Gladys was the oldest living member of Sunny Grove Baptist Church.  She enjoyed traveling, quilting, bird watching and tending to her flowers. She was known as a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother.  She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Washburn, her son, James Dewey Washburn, her grandson Roger Neil Washburn and her great grandson Joshua Rylan Sexton. 

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Lawing Washburn; a grandson, James Nick Washburn and wife Tammy; a grand daughter-in-law, Phedra Washburn and five great grandchildren, Tifaney Eden Washburn, Brooke Isabella Washburn, Rylan Jax Washburn, Gabe Nicholas Washburn and Kaelyn Sexton.

A funeral service will be held at Victory Temple on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. with the Revs. Doug McPeters, Pete McCombs and Mrs. Deborah Bolden officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00. Interment will follow at Sunny Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
