Gladys Buchanan Hall

Gladys Buchanan Hall, 94, of Marion, left this earthly life on Monday, September 18, 2023 at her niece’s residence in Bryson City.

She was born in Spruce Pine on October 3, 1928 to the late Jeter Buchanan and Maude Howell Buchanan.

Gladys was a lifelong member of East Marion Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for a number of years. Her life is a true example of a faithful Christian as she lived by the Good Book each and every day. When in Bryson City, she attended Sawmill Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Gladys was very family-oriented and cared deeply for each member of her family. She loved her special canine companion, Miss Daisy, and enjoyed pampering her each day.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Reid Hall; two sisters, Nina Buchanan Jones (James) and Marilyn Buchanan Owensby (Bill); brother, James Ellis Buchanan, Sr.; and brother-in-law, Ray Buchanan.

She is survived by one brother, Billy Ray Buchanan (Pauline); one sister, Betty Buchanan; sister-in-law, Maxine Buchanan; special niece and caregiver, Jennifer Hill (Mark) and their daughters, Claire and Lilah; and a number of other nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Andrew Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private at Silver Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in the Bandana Community.
