Geretha Coyt Murray "Gerri" Byrd

Geretha Coyt Murray “Gerri” Byrd, 79, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023.

A native of McDowell County, she was born November 25, 1943 to the late Coyt and Louise Murray.

Gerri loved her church family including Sunday School Class – Bethany - and spending time with her family whether it be at the beach, mountains, or at home.

She was the treasurer of the Marion Lions Club. She retired from Ferguson Copeland and enjoyed umpiring many softball games for all ages.

She is survived by her husband Larry; son, David; daughter, Rhea; five grandkids; four great grandkids; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church with Rev. Ethan Hester and Rev. Steve Hawkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
