Gerardo Cortes Sanchez

Gerardo Cortes Sanchez, 56, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021 at CHS-Blue Ridge in Morganton.

He was born in Mexico on October 03, 1965 to Isaac Cortes Montes and Estela Sanchez Munoz.

Gerardo was a hard worker and a great provider for his family. He owned and operated a bakery. He was always smiling and joking with his family and friends. A very caring man, Gerardo’s pride and joy were his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his uncle, Agustin Sanchez Munoz; and his aunt, Griselda Espinoza.

He leaves behind his companion of many years, Violeta Pina Betancourt; three children, Blanca Esthela Cortes (Sebastian), Gerardo Cortes, Jr. (Shidavia), and Juan Alberto Cortes Pina; five grandchildren, Sandra Magana Cortes, Jair Magana Cortes, Vanessa Magana Cortes, Sebastian Magana Cortes, Jr., and Lorenzo Kieth Cortes; and five siblings, Gilberto Cortes Sanchez, Humberto Cortes Sanchez, Rogelio Cortes Sanchez, Gloria Cortes Sanchez, and Ramiro Cortes Sanchez.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Visitation will again be held from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.

Nació en México el 03 de octubre de 1965 hijo de Isaac Cortes Montes y Estela Sánchez Muñoz.

Gerardo fue un gran trabajador y un gran proveedor para su familia. Poseía y operaba una panadería. Siempre estaba sonriendo y bromeando con su familia y amigos. Un hombre muy cariñoso, el orgullo y la alegría de Gerardo eran sus nietos.

Le anteceden en la muerte su tío, Agustín Sánchez Muñoz; y su tía, Griselda Espinoza.

Deja atrás a su compañera de muchos años, Violeta Pina Betancourt; tres hijos, Blanca Esthela Cortes (Sebastian), Gerardo Cortes, Jr. (Shidavia) y Juan Alberto Cortes Pina; cinco nietos, Sandra Magana Cortes, Jair Magana Cortes, Vanessa Magana Cortes, Sebastian Magana Cortes, Jr. y Lorenzo Kieth Cortes; y cinco hermanos, Gilberto Cortes Sanchez, Humberto Cortes Sanchez, Rogelio Cortes Sanchez, Gloria Cortes Sanchez y Ramiro Cortes Sanchez.

La familia recibirá amigos el jueves 28 de octubre de 2021 de 17:00 a 19:00 horas. en Beam Funeral Service.

Se llevará a cabo un funeral el viernes 29 de octubre de 2021 a las 3:00 p.m. en el Servicio Funerario de la Capilla de Viga. El velorio se realizará nuevamente de 2:00 a 3:00 p.m., una hora antes del servicio. Seguirá el sepelio en el cementerio de Murphy's Chapel.
