She was born in Virginia on July 6, 1951 to the late Eugene Dowless and Geneva Mae Dew Perry.

She is survived by her husband, Arcemus Fox; son, Mark Benson; and three grandchildren, Cameron Benson, Collin Benson, and Alannah Benson.
