Gerald A. Koegel

Mr. Gerald A. Koegel, age 76, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 5, 2019 at his residence in the Pleasant Gardens community.  Born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania on March 22, 1943, he was the son of the late William and Margaret Koegel. 

Prior to his health declining, Gerald enjoyed being outdoors; fishing, hunting or camping with his family.  He had not only a special place in his heart for his family, but for animals as well.  Gerald proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter with Pageland Fire Department in Pageland, South Carolina and Ashford-North Cove Volunteer Fire Department in the North Cove community of McDowell County.  He was a member of Clinchfield Baptist Church in Marion.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Dee Koegel; three sons, Mark Koegel (Sherry), Patrick Nealley (Mary) and Timothy Nealley (Melissa); and one sister, Margaret Thomas (Fred).  Gerald is also survived by six grandchildren, Kevin Nealley (Brooke), Rebecca Toscano (Michael), Christopher Blount, Shawn Nealley, Amanda Koegel and Jessica Koegel; and one great granddaughter, Lillian Toscano.

A memorial service for Mr. Koegel will be held at a later date.
