Georgia Ruth Flathe Wilson, age 75, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at her residence.
A native of Minnesota, she was born on July 21, 1946 to the late Ralph Flathe and Ruth Chadima Flathe.
Georgia graduated from Hillsboro High School (Nashville, TN) and Vanderbilt University Peabody College as an English major. After retiring from a career as a gemologist, she moved to the mountains of NC in 2008. In retirement, she pursued her life long passion for writing and became a successfully published author of short stories, biographies and historical fiction. Georgia was a quick witted beautiful human with an amazing sense of humor and love of language.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, David Flathe.
She is survived by her dedicated and loving husband of 53 years, Jerrell D. Wilson; three children, Ronnie Wilson (Pamela), Jennifer Wilson (Erin), Holly Verbos (Steve); seven grandchildren, Ethan, Greyson, Brian, Alex, Laurel, Mary Ashlyn, and Saryn; one sister, Patricia Laak (Jack); and one brother, John Flathe (Nancy).
In accordance with her wishes, services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
