Georgia Vess

Georgia Hall Vess, age 88, of Old Fort, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord on the evening of Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Mountain Ridge Health & Rehabilitation in Black Mountain, North Carolina.  The daughter of the late H.R. and Myrtle Sexton Hall, Georgia was born in Coeburn, Virginia on May 08, 1933.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd H. Vess, who passed away December 09, 2015; one infant daughter, Dona Rena Vess; one great grandson, Thomas Allen Vess; and five siblings, Alfred Hall, Robert Hall, Isabelle Buchanan, Marcella Jones and Alice Castle. 

A loving and caring, mother and grandmother, Georgia truly loved being with her family, and in fact, her family was there at her bedside during her final journey.  Having been a foster parent, she took great pride in fostering many children throughout the years.  Georgia attended Lackey Town Missionary Baptist Church in Old Fort. 

She is survived by five children, Allen Vess (Viddie) of Old Fort, Debra Vess of Marion, Glenn Vess (Terri) of Old Fort, Revonda Jackson (Keith) of Old Fort and Aaron Vess (Wadean) of Old Fort; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Old Fort with Rev. Barry Vess, Rev. Aaron Vess, Rev. Jeff Parker and Rev. Bill Pate officiating.  Interment will follow in Cherry Springs Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
