George Robert Waycaster, Jr., age 85, of Old Fort, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at his residence with his loving family by his side. A native of Buncombe County, George was born on August 16, 1936 to the late George Waycaster, Sr. and Mabel Moore Waycaster.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Gilliam Waycaster; his daughter who passed away April 8, 2021, Kenlynn Waycaster White; and a sister, Pansy Blackburn.
George was a proud United States Navy Veteran who served in Korea. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and enjoyed golfing and fishing. He enjoyed having visitors and was proud to show his famous covered bridge.
George is survived one daughter, Gwendolyn G. Waycaster and son in law, Brian K. White, Sr.; three siblings, Mamie Painter, Mildred Williamson (Lynn) and Leonard Waycaster (Sue); brother-in-laws, Harold Blackburn, Aaron M. Gilliam, David Gilliam and Mickey Gilliam (Helen); sister-in-laws Betty S. Gilliam and Kathy Ragan (Ed). Also surviving George are two grandchildren, Brian White, Jr. (Patricia) and Jessica White Carter (Dusty).
A funeral service to celebrate George’s life will be held on Monday, September 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service with Reverend Marty Conner officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
