Geneva Louise Rutherford Tate, 92, was born May 15, 1929. She departed this life peacefully surrounded by loved ones at her residence on March 11, 2022.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dolphus Tate; four children, John Wayne Tate, Larry Ray Tate, Ellen Elaine Tate, Charles “Jimmy” Dolphus Tate, Jr. and her six grandchildren, Larry, Nickey, Carla, Mark, Angie and Janekia.
Geneva was a member of Temple of Jesus Church. She worked at Sunrise Rehabilitation and Care as a Certified Nursing Assistant for thirty-one years, retiring at the age of eighty-three. She enjoyed shopping, doing laundry, holding hour long conversations with family and friends and babysitting her great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memories are four children, Earl Tate (Georgia), Sheila Tate Wilkerson, Rosena Lytle, Vangie Mason (Charles); one step-daughter, Dorothy Carson and one brother, Guy Jackson (Reba). Also surviving Geneva are eighteen grandchildren, sixty-six great-grandchildren, thirty-seven great-great grandchildren and two special friends, Lavern and Mable Dickey. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service Chapel with Reverends Phil Forney and Gary Montgomery officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Temple of Jesus Church Cemetery in Rutherford County.
