Gene Washington Morgan

March 26, 1935 — November 4, 2024

Marion

Gene Washington Morgan, 89, of Marion, passed from this life on Monday, November 4, 2024 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

He was born on March 26, 1935 in McDowell County to the late Fleming and Elizabeth Mostiller Morgan. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ilene Haney Morgan; second wife, Joyce Norville; son, Michael Albert Morgan; five sisters; and one brother.

Gene dedicated over two decades of his life to working in steel mills, proudly serving at Macomber's Steel in Canton, Ohio. His work was not just a job; it was a source of pride that reflected his dedication and strong work ethic. Following this, Gene owned and operated M-M Ceramics with his wife Ilene, where he continued to exemplify the hard-working nature that defined him for thirty years.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gene was known for his caring nature. He genuinely looked out for others before himself, a trait that endeared him to many. His generous spirit and willingness to help those in need left a lasting impact on family, friends, and the community.

In his leisure time, Gene found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a true lover of nature, taking delight in watching birds and squirrels. His greatest love was for his family. He was an amazing father. He loved visits with his grandson, Joey, every Sunday, and he also enjoyed when his grandson, Wesley, visited as well. He will be missed.

Left to cherish his memory are three children, Dolores Soeder, Janice Nelon (Michael), and Jeffrey Morgan (Margaret); five grandchildren, Wayne Soeder, Wesley Soeder, Joey Soeder (Audra), Alecia Morgan, and Mark Morgan; and five great-grandchildren, Natalie Soeder, Bryson Soeder, Alexis Soeder, Arabella Winkler, and Tyson Soeder.

In accordance with Mr. Morgan’s wishes, there will be a private burial at Nealsville Church of God Cemetery.
