Gene Alvin Hutchins, born on May 21, 1941, in McDowell County, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024 at Mission Memorial. He is remembered fondly as a loving father, brother, and grandfather.
Gene dedicated himself to his family and community with great passion and commitment. For over forty years, he served as a member and deacon of the Trinity Hill Free Will Baptist Church, where his faith and devotion shone brightly. He was an integral part of the church community, touching the lives of many with his kindness and leadership.
In his professional life, Gene had a longstanding career at Air Preheater, from which he retired after many years of service. Beyond his work, he embraced the joys of life with a love for nature, frequently spending his time hunting, fishing, and taking leisurely rides around the lake.
Gene is survived by his two sons, Bryan Hutchins and Steve Hutchins, his brother Randy Hutchins, his sister Deanna Hall, and four cherished grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patsy Surratt Hutchins.
A visitation will be held at the Trinity Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Nebo, North Carolina, on August 25, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 4:00 PM at the church. Gene's legacy of love and community service will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
