Gene Daniel Carmney, age 58, of Turkey Cove Community, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at his residence. A native of McDowell County, he was a son of the late Reece Washington Carmney and Agnes Biddix Carmney.
Gene was a Deacon at Turkey Cove Baptist Church and retired volunteer fireman with Woodlawn Sevier Volunteer Fire Department. He was a former employee of Parker Hosiery and enjoyed hunting, fishing and antiques. Gene was a loving, caring husband and a great Dad and Papaw. He loved his grandchildren dearly. Gene loved His Savior, Jesus Christ and was a great friend to all. He believed in the ways of the old path.
Gene is survived by his wife of 38years, Carol Bartlett Carmney; a son, Daniel Carmney; two sisters, Glenda Ward and husband David, Linda Queen and husband Boyd; two grandchildren, Isaiah Carmney, Makayla Carmney and a special niece, Daina Fuller.
A funeral service to celebrate Gene’s life will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, June 12, at Turkey Cove Baptist Church with Rev. Junior Bailey, Rev. David Edwards, Rev. Charles Dicks and Rev. Johnny Johnson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM to 7:00PM, Sunday, June 11th at Turkey Cove Baptist Church.
