Gaynell Leslie

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 19, 2019, Gaynell Dalton Leslie, age 81, of Marion, North Carolina passed away at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville. A native of Rutherford County, Gaynell was born on January 31, 1938 to the late Theodore and Annie May Woods Dalton.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Leslie; infant son, Robert Francis Leslie; grandson, Rick Schism; two brothers, Wilber and Cecil Dalton and two sisters, Lois Roland and Patsy Curtis.

Gaynell was a member and elder of Clinchfield Presbyterian Church. She was an avid sports fan, pulling for the Atlanta Braves, Carolina Tarheels and the Carolina Panthers.

Left to cherish her memories are one daughter, Teresa Leslie Schism (Jim); one brother, Randall Dalton (Carol) and one sister, Judy Robbins (Earl). Also surviving Gaynell is one granddaughter, Holly Schism and four great-grandchildren, Kennedy Arrowood, Joseph, Asher and Paisley Schism.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Laura Long officiating. Interment will take place at Old Nebo Cemetery.
