Gary Clifton Stevens, 77, of Marion, passed away Monday evening, December 9, 2024 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
He was born September 9, 1947 in McDowell County to the late Clifton Stevens and Mildred Lingerfelt Stevens. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Myra Howell.
Gary dedicated a significant portion of his career to Baxter Healthcare, where he later retired. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Gary proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. His service to his country reflects his sense of duty and dedication, traits he carried into all aspects of his life.
An avid outdoorsman, Gary found great joy in fishing and hunting. His love for the outdoors culminated in one of his proudest achievements—winning a Boone and Crockett award for a deer he killed. He had true skill and dedication to the sport. He was a good Christian man who will be remembered as a loving husband, father, papaw, and friend. He was patient, kind, and hard-working, and he brought a sense of peace to the lives of all his family and friends. Gary will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Maxwell Stevens; two children, Chad Stevens (Kim) and Jennifer Wilson (Jonathan); step-daughter, Erin Davis; and five grandchildren, Turner Wilson, Myla Wilson, Harley Davis, Garrison Davis, and Emma Davis.
In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held.
