Gary Wesley Rymer, age 63, of Marion, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 09, 2017 at the McDowell Hospital. The son of the late C.G. and Nora Rymer, he was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on April 17, 1953.
Gary retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections where he served as a Correctional Officer with the Marion Correctional Institute and was owner/operator of Pinto Acres Rodeo and Arena. He was one of the founders of the McDowell Saddle and Bridle Club and a member of the Marion Moose Family Center #1705.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Steve Rymer; and one grandson, Hayden Rymer.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 7 years, Tina Poteat Rymer of the home; one daughter, Stephanie Randolph (Phillip) of Marion; one step-son, William Keith Plemmons (Jena) of Marion; and his five loving grandchildren, Karley Ann, Kaleb Wesley and Karrie Mae Randolph and Alexis Marie and William Jaxson Plemmons.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion with Revs. Keith Jamison and Dennis Hensley officiating. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park with graveside rites provided by the North Carolina Department of Public Safety-Adult Corrections.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, two hours prior to the service, at the funeral home.
