Gary C. Lawing

Gary C. Lawing, age 69, of the Pleasant Gardens Community passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at his residence with his family by his side.  A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born November 22, 1947, he was the son of the late Clarence “Curley” and Pauline Croom Lawing.

Following thirty-one years, Gary retired from Pepsi Cola Bottling of Woodlawn.  He enjoyed watching sports, especially if the Atlanta Braves or Carolina Tar Heels were playing.  Gary loved to go camping, but most of all, spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren. 

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 47 ½ years, Susan Frye Lawing; two children, Jeff Lawing and wife Holly of Sanford, NC; and Gena Lawing Reel of Marion; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. 

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Scotty Callaway and Rev. Josh Hayes officiating.
