Gary Ray Davis

Gary Ray Davis, age 63, beloved husband, dad and papaw, went to meet his Lord Jesus Christ Sunday, January 13, 2019 at his home after a long battle with COPD.

Gary was born May 24, 1955 in McDowell County, NC to the late L.D. and Helen Davis. His passion was music and he was a very talented musician.  He could play several instruments and could sing beautifully. Over the years, he sang in several different gospel groups and at one time owned a recording studio where he would record for local gospel groups.  Although music was his passion, Gary’s grandchildren were his pride and joy.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter, Stefanie Davis Vaughn, his first wife, DeLaine Davis and four siblings.

Those left behind to cherish Gary’s memories are his wife, Betty McLaughlin Davis; five children, Heather Laws (Chuck), Shaun Laws (Tricia), Jason Williams, Adam Davis (Erica) and Melanie Davis; and fifteen beloved grandchildren, Hannah Laws, Tanner Laws, Sabrina Robinson, Marcus Laws, Audree Laws, Trevor Williams, Katlyn Davis, Brody Elliot, Greyson Davis, Mason Willett, Colton Hinson, Mayah Davis, Aiden Davis, Mason Davis and Lilah Davis.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Mountain Creek Independent Baptist Church.  A Memorial Service to celebrate Gary’s life will follow at 1:00 PM at the church with Scottie Calloway officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
