Frances Vess Walker Parker, age 88, of Lake Lure, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord on the night of Thursday, June 18, 2020 at her residence with her loved ones at her side. The daughter of the late Allen and Fairy Allen Vess, she was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on January 11, 1932.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Parker; and one sister, Thelma Kirby.
Frances, for 37 years, proudly worked at Collins & Aikman in Old Fort. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed being outdoors. A member of Davistown Free Will Baptist Church in Old Fort, prior to her health declining, she was known to send cards for any occasion to her family and church family.
She is survived by her son, Reggie Vess (Guynell); one brother, Mack Vess; three grandchildren, Randy Vess, Regina Smith (Robby) and Gloria Duncan (Richard); four great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild on the way.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at Davistown Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Frank Cable and Pastor Kenneth Massingill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
