Frances Waters McFalls

Frances W. McFalls, age 88, of Lebanon, Illinois died at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2022 at her residence.

She was born September 1, 1934 in Forest City, North Carolina, the daughter of the late James Dewitt and Lela (Rash) Waters. She married Donald D. McFalls September 3, 1958 and he preceded her in death November 27, 1989.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Kerry McFalls; and a sister, Mary McFalls.

Surviving are three daughters: Donna M. (William Wood) Ray of Lebanon, Lela McFalls of Lebanon and Sherry (Wesley) Calloway of Newland, NC; six grandchildren: Celia Worley, Heather Ray, Caitlin McFalls, Britney Graves, Jaimie Hopson and Jesse Graves; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, JoAnn Seagle (the late Sonny) of Marion, NC.

Frances was a homemaker and found her greatest joy in raising her daughters and caring for her grandchildren. She was extremely intelligent, outmatching everyone at Jeopardy and crossword puzzles. Her strong and steady love for her family and God made her a safe haven for many.

Frances was an avid reader and especially loved westerns and Louis L'amour. When asked why she never remarried, she would reply with "Why would I when I've already had the best?" Tom Selleck would have been the only possible exception. When asked, she would tell each grandchild that they were her favorite and not to tell the others.

She had a sharp wit and it was a rare occurrence for her to curse or say something rude, but when she did, it was to the shock and delight of anyone within ear shot. She took delight in small, simple things and was content with her life. She was kind to everyone she crossed paths with but did not suffer fools lightly. She was an absolute treasure and will be missed dearly. She is simply irreplaceable and loved beyond all measure.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
